I love clothes! Shopping for my 'teaching clothes' is one of my favourites things to do, and I am always on the lookout for finding that new essential piece! Although I enjoyed visiting lots of supermarkets (George ASDA clothes are a must!), and scrolling through pages and pages on websites such as New Look and Boohoo, I am very excited to start shopping in person for my Spring/Summer teacher wardrobe for my second block of placement.

In terms of clothing in the EYFS, here are a few top tips:

1. Still being smart to follow your schools uniform policy - your outfits must be comfortable and flexible for all that getting up and down from the floor, sitting on very small chairs and being eye level for your pupils.

2. Buy nothing over £20 - with all the paint, mud kitchens and general activities, the EYFS tends to be a messy place at times so i'd advise not to wear anything you aim to keep pristine!

3. Wear layers - especially with many settings having free flow for in and outdoor provision, it is ideal to always be prepared having lots of warm layers at the ready (as well as your wellies and waterproofs in the cupboard).

Today, I have decided to share some of my go to pieces that I wore most on placement!

NB: I have not been able to include links as majority of these items were from supermarkets, online sales, or I have had for a few years now.

This was the outfit I wore on my very first day! It is super comfy and easy to move in, in addition to looking very smart to make that all important great first impression on that first day!

I loved a skirt on placement and this was a specific one I grabbed time and time again due to it being so easy to move in. I tended to avoid skirts on days I knew I was outside and opted for them usually on my PPA morning days for comfort!

A little secret about this outfit, this is exactly what I wore for my University interview as well as my first day of placement last year! It is comfortable, smart and the blouse is super cool for those warmer days!

This is the same as above, but with the addition of a crop jumper! With all windows and doors open to ensure a good constant airflow to help prevent the spread of covid-19, at times it was often a little chilly in the classroom. This was one of my favourite and most worn jumpers to easily 'chuck on' to get warm whilst still looking smart and professional.

This was potentially my favourite outfit! In this dress I felt and looked a little like Miss Honey from Matilda! It was comfy and I loved how long and flexible it was to move in - perfect for the EYFS. The pupils loved this too, many attempting to count the colours and flowers so provided some classroom talk too! I paired it with the above jumper as well as tights. This piece can also be perfect for Summer too; being a suitable length for wear without the jumper and tights.

As you can properly tell from the image (I forgot to save it without the text), this top is from Primark! It is super warm and I tended to use it when layering. When in outdoor provision, I often paired this with the thick chunky knit black cardigan worn in the image with the skirt. I also wore this for our filming of our Easter performance on the theme of chicks!

I could not do a look back of my favourite outfits of the half term without including the all important World Book Day! With our class read being "The Gruffalo", I decided to dress as the fox. The pupils loved it and really enjoyed talking about the book and the other characters. They also loved attempting to pull the foxes tail!

I've loved looking back through my 'teachergram' - @_missyeoman to find the outfits and reminisce again from my time in school. Some summer pieces I aim to find are some light-wear pretty blouses and a few long skirts to keep cool in the hopefully warm summer! I hope you've enjoyed this post, delving into my go to smart options and I look forward to sharing my spring/summer wardrobe after my next block of placement.

Over the next few weeks sharing my EYFS experiences, I will end each post with a little advice on some of the invaluable things/tips I have learnt:

5. Always bring a spare change of clothes! This week instead of some teaching tips i've learnt, I ams sharing a vital tip for all in the EYFS! With all the paint, mud and play dough, teaching 3 and 4 year olds, you are going to get fairly messy. Simply having a change of clothes for yourself (just like the children) in the cupboard, can make your day a lot more enjoyable if you get that little too wet from the rain or messy.
