Page 51: The Christmas Break KS1 update ...
Wow - I cannot believe that it is Christmas Eve 2021 and it is my first chance to write/post (that wasn't prewritten), since I started my KS1 placement.
I have had the best 8 weeks in year 2 and cannot believe I only have 4 to go after the holidays. Again, I am so lucky to have the best and most supportive class, school and mentors as the final chapters of my teacher training are really starting to come to an end!
This is just a quick little update to say - hello! and get straight back into the swing of things ...
So what has happened over the past few months during my year 2 placement? I have honestly had the most jam packed few months. From planning my very own scheme of work for a unit for the school to use, school trips, covering classes and general day to day teaching I have not stopped - or wanted to! Over the next few posts I will be sharing this further, delving into some feedback and my key critical reflections of so, sharing some lesson ideas and getting further into blogging and researching around my dissertation.
The time I have had so far with my class, school and mentors, I have really established some great bonds and foundations to build upon. Forming these key relationships with staff, pupils and parents is vital not just in your planning, preparation and assessment for teaching and learning, but for wellbeing and safeguarding too.
Although it is the Christmas break, it is not time to stop.
My Christmas to do's:
- Complete my research proposal and submit this for my dissertation
- Complete my first draft of my personal statment
- Update my CV
- Prep and submit the start of applications to relevant ECT pools open
- First week back to school planning and preparation
Yes! So there is a lot to get on with and not too much time, so this is definitely what I will be spending the rest if my holidays doing. For some, this may seem a long and tiresome list, however, I am so passionate about these areas, thrive and enjoy teaching and my journey so much, I do not mind doing it at all.
Time to turn the laptop off for the next 2 days as it is Christmas!
I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas, a much well deserved break after a long half term and are refreshed and refuelled for January!
- Miss Yeoman
